Takes Four, Two Tangle
The skies grow dim
Are you tired too?
If it was only a whim
Can it truly be true?
Your lantern lights the way
Your words cut through the dusk
Yet I can’t bear to hear you say
That you still miss his musk
Our days are short like a solstice night
His image fades but doesn’t leave
I dearly hope this dreaming might
Bring you close enough to breathe
The fresh new air of the cold twilight
Or at least give me a chance to grieve
Connections killed with words unmeant
And the deaths I die from hopeless endeavor
To expel from the depths of a silent torment
The tiresome heartaches from long-past Decembers
Though I’ve tried to forget her
That Cheshire smirk never fully fades
While burying memories like a torn-up love letter
An expert magician, she comes up in spades
Can I hide in your warmth?
I’m not so sure I’m welcome
Can you rescue my heart?
It’s been bitten and bruised
Can you be the cure?
Or at least anti-venom
Can you lead me from ruin?
I’m so lost and confused
Have I woken up yet
Do you really exist
Can we still sing a duet
When we’re lost in the midst
